Frank questions national security status of WTO deal with EU

eGaming Review
April 01, 2008

A letter from Congressmen Barney Frank and Ron Paul has surfaced requesting details of the trade agreement brokered between the US and the EU and questioning why the US government has cited national security as a reason not to reveal anything further of the deal.

The deal negotiated in December last year was intended to compensate the affected countries following the US withdrawal of its commitment to the GATS agreement under article 21.

Dated 14 March but posted on the House Financial Services Committee website on 25 March, the letter urges US trade representative Susan Schwab to reveal why “national security” was cited for a refusal to release details of the deal. Robert Blumenfeld Login Logout Search Related Articles
